Jennifer Sun

Hello!
Welcome to my personal webpage.
I received my Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Brain and Behavioral Sciences in May 2022 at Purdue University. Now, I am a research specialist at University of South Carolina under Dr. Jessica Klusek. If you'd like to learn more, explore below.

My spark for research began during my first role as an assistant at the Ryu Group Lab. I presented at a poster conference on the Discoveries in improving learning environments in STEM classrooms for Linguistic and Racial Minority Students. Throughout my qualitative analysis, I identified language to be an overall, contributing component in student's difficulties in schooling.I hoped to learn more about the underlying mechanisms of learning in education. Thus, I joined the Sleep and Developmental Studies Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Amy J Schwichtenberg. Many of the skills that I have today developed significantly through this lab (e.g. R programming, Python, ITK Snap, FreeView). My interests continued to develop later on and I found myself aiding the ESDI Lab under the guidance of Dr. Jessica Bradshaw. Despite the challenges throughout the pandemic (i.e. being overseas, juggling courses as a senior in college, and directing events on the executive board in an organization), I acquired a lot of knowledge through my involvement in the lab. Some of the skills include: SPSS, Data Entry/Analysis/Visualization, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
